What are the best Free Software and Open Source software for full backups.
Problem
Description
We try to list here the most important software for full backups. This means the goal is only to save the whole system (usualy the whole partition) for possible system failure. It is not suposed to be incremental or even over on a network. You should be able to restore the system exactly how it was when the backup was made.

- the program must be strictly Free Software and Open Source software
- the program should natively complile on at least one mature distribution considered as Distributions enough free.

- the program should be Software under active developpement and Software considered as mature. You don't want to mess with your backups...

- Mondo you can save on CD,DVD, over network on hard disk. Used in the industry in production in many places.
- partimage simple, can save a partition in a single file or many volumes you can later burn.
- mkCDrec is able to make bootable CDs and restore even to disks that don't have the same size.
